World holds a lot of your life, so here is exactly what we keep and why.
The short version
- We never sell or rent your data, and never share it with data brokers.
- There are no ads from other companies in World, and we don't track you on other apps or websites.
- Messages and calls between people are end-to-end encrypted. We can't read them.
- You can see, download and delete your data at any time, in World under You.
Who we are
World is run by 1000451734 ONTARIO INC., operating as ounoworld, in Ontario, Canada ("we"). This policy covers World on the web and in our phone apps, and this website.
What we collect and why
We collect only what World needs to work. Each kind below is linked to your account. None of it is used to track you.
- Contact info
- Your name, email, phone number and the addresses you give.
- To run your account, sign you in, and deliver what you order.
- Health and fitness
- Only forms you or your child's school, league or daycare need, such as a medical or consent form, and body measurements you keep for a tailor.
- To give them to the place that asked, and kept only as long as the law requires.
- Financial info
- Your wallet, payments, payouts and receipts. Our payment partner holds your card and bank details; we keep a reference and the last four digits.
- To let you pay and be paid, and to keep the records the law requires.
- Location
- Your precise location only while a delivery is on its way to you, or when a kid shares where they are with their parents. Otherwise, the address you gave.
- Deliveries, a parent knowing where their kid is, and showing places near you.
- Sensitive info
- The result of your one-time ID check (never the photo of your ID), vouches from your family, and papers you choose to keep in World.
- To make sure every person is real, once, and to keep your own papers.
- Contacts
- The people you connect with inside World.
- Messages, your family tree and your connections.
- What you make and share
- What you write, post and share: messages, notes, lists, plans, moments, photos, reviews, memories and questions you ask.
- To show it to you and to the people you choose.
- Purchases
- Your orders, bookings, tickets, stays, rentals, memberships and places in classes or daycare.
- To do what you bought, and to keep the records a business must keep.
- Identifiers
- Your account number, the devices you sign in on, your passkeys' public keys, and addresses for notifications.
- To sign you in safely and send you notifications.
- Usage data
- What you saved or opened lately, your Home layout, security events, and how much you used Ask.
- To show you your own recent things, keep your account safe, and keep Ask fair for everyone.
- Family and kids
- Your family links and your kids' profiles: a name and birth date given by a parent, and the settings the parent chose.
- Your family tree, and a kid's world set up by their parents.
- Work at a shop
- The roles you hold at a shop, your time off, and the branches you cover.
- So the shop knows who can do what.
Messages
Messages and calls between people are end-to-end encrypted: only the people in the conversation can read or hear them. We store only sealed copies we can't open.
Messages with a shop, a landlord or a care team are different. They are kept on our servers so the business's team can read and answer them.
When you report someone, we receive who you reported and why. A report never sends us your messages.
Ask
When you ask Ask something, your question and what Ask needs to answer it are sent to our AI partner to write the answer. Your conversations are kept until you delete them. Ask never keeps anything about your health.
If you link your own AI, such as ChatGPT or Claude, it reads only what you allow, under that company's own privacy policy.
Who we share it with
Only with these, and only what each needs:
- The people you choose. You pick who sees each thing you share.
- Businesses you buy from. Your name, contact details and, for a delivery, your address, so they can do what you ordered.
- Your parents, if you're a kid in World. Parents see their kid's activity.
- The law. Only when a valid legal order requires it.
- Companies that help us run World. Each is under contract and uses your data only for us:
- Amazon Web Services
- Hosting and storage
- Stripe
- Payments
- Postmark
- Twilio
- Text-message codes
- Anthropic
- The AI behind Ask
- Google or Apple
- Only if you sign in with them
ID checks are our own. If the law or our bank partner requires an outside check, we'll name that company here first.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account, we sign you out everywhere at once and remove your personal data within 30 days.
A business must keep some records for years, such as receipts and tax records. We keep those only as long as the law requires, and use them for nothing else.
Where it's stored and how it's protected
Your data is stored in the United States, with Amazon Web Services. Data stored there can be accessed by US authorities under US law.
It's encrypted when stored and when sent. You sign in with a passkey, not a password. ID check results are kept in a separate, locked vault. In You, "Who looked" shows every time someone opened your account data.
Your choices
- See and download everything we hold about you: You, then Export. The file is ready within 24 hours.
- Correct your details in You. Your verified name and birth date change only with a new ID check.
- Delete your account: You, then Delete account.
- Change your mind. Withdraw a permission you gave, such as location, in You or in your device's settings.
You can also write to privacy@ounoworld.com. We answer within 30 days.
Kids
Nobody under 18 has their own account. A parent adds a kid's profile to their family, chooses what the kid can do, and sees their activity. At 18, the profile can become the person's own account. We don't knowingly collect anything from a child except what their parent provides.
This website
This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or forms, and doesn't keep a log of your visit.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes. Before a big change takes effect, we tell you in World.
